Custom Deer Meats

Last Updated on February 8, 2026

Custom Deer Meats is a deer processor located in Middlefield, Ohio. The family-owned business started in 2007/2008 during the recession as a way to earn extra income and grew through word of mouth and advertising. The business processes thousands of deer annually for hunters from multiple states and deer culling plans from various cities. They also operate a sister business, Country Crossroads Meats, offering retail meat sales and custom livestock processing.

The facility is located in the Amish country area east of Middlefield and features a clean shop with all processing and smoking done on-site. They guarantee hunters receive their own meat back. The business is CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease) certified to process out-of-state deer and other game in the deer family.

For current information, hunters should contact Custom Deer Meats directly at 440-693-4144 to confirm drop-off procedures, pickup hours, current pricing, estimated processing timelines, or any specific requirements. Drop-off Procedures and Hours

The business is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and closed on Sundays. They accept Sunday-killed deer on Mondays during shotgun season. Deer must be field dressed, and they prefer skin-on deer that are cleaned.

After-hours self check-in is available Monday through Saturday for deer killed within the last 12 hours only. Hunters bring deer onto the dock through the garage door, attach a numbered tag to the deer's rear leg, pull the deer into the cooler, fill out the self check-in form, and call on the next business day with processing instructions. Only whole, fresh deer shot that afternoon are accepted through self check-in. The facility is monitored by Guardian Protection security, and only specific areas are accessible for self check-in.

Processing Details and Policies

After-hour check-in is for same-day kills only with orders placed within 24 hours. Hunters typically receive a two-week approximate lead time, though this varies depending on workload. Orders must be picked up within three days of notification, or hunters will be charged an abandoned order fee. Orders will be reported to ODNR game wardens if not claimed.

Backstraps are sliced unless ordered otherwise. All steaks and chops are boneless. Nothing is added to ground venison unless requested and packaged. Ground meat is left bulk unless requested otherwise. No hanging weights are provided. All sausage, bologna, smokies, hot dogs, and similar items have pork added unless no pork is requested.
